MOTSEPE MUST CONTINUE TO WIELD THE AXE

MAMELODI Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe has finally acted on his long-held threats that he was going to decapitate someone for the Jose Torrealba saga.

Motsepe pulled the trigger on Friday and sent Afzal Khan right to the back of the unemployment queue after the club lost their appeal.

And like many other feeble sto ries we have heard before, the two parties parted ways "amicably". Yeah right!

And with the results not taking a shape that can put a smile on Motsepe’s filthy rich face, Khan’s friend Gordon Igesund is probably shaking in his boots.

But there are probably a few who will be sympathetic to Igesund despite the fact that his future as Sundowns coach is as endangered as a white rhino.

A self-inflicted defeat at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs and a shocking home loss to equally- dizzy Black Leopards have obviously had Mot sepe’s finger itching for another shot.

In all fairness, the two gentlemen from Durban, who are known for their magic of bag ging league titles, should not be the only people at Chloorkop to have a black Christmas.

There are a number of them who are bungling and can hardly tell you whether they are coming or going.

Unless, of course, Motsepe is happy to be associated with medi ocrity and has a thick skin to take snide remarks from his business associates at the golf course.

The Sundowns brand has suf fered enough and it’s about time that Motsepe rolls back his sleeves and arrests the situation.

As matters stand, the mining tycoon is associated with an organ isation that is harbouring fraud sters, as experts have testified in the Torrealba case.

On the other hand, another official, though he still has to go through the due processes of the law, is facing serious charges that have seen him drawing a salary for the past two months while twiddling his fingers at home.

As to how long the mahala pay cheque will continue to flow into his bank account will be determined by the length of the court cases.

And the boardroom shenani gans seem to have rubbed off on the players as well.
How else does one explain Lera to Chabangu’s act of thuggery when he got his marching orders against Leopards on Wednesday?

Chabangu, who has been a good role model on the field since joining Sundowns, lost his cool when it mattered most and decided not to go for the ball but to dance on oppo nent Jabulani Maluleke’s balls as if he was worshipping at a well- known church.

Such acts are evidence that morale has hit the lowest point at the club and the leadership need not hesitate to show more buffoons the same door that Khan used for his one-way exit.

And, by the way, as I said before, I will say it again. The fax is a bit outdated. I am sure with all that money, Sundowns can afford to send press conference invites through e-mail or SMS alert.
